H & M released a new look from Balmain!

We fully expected Olivier Rousteing to do an early gifting of Balmain for H&M for a member of his much-photographed Balmain Army.

And certified foot soldiers Kendall Jenner and Jourdan Dunn did wear pieces from it when the designer announced the project at the Billboard Music Awards. But rather than showing up in a paparazzi shot, the latest look from the upcoming high-low collaboration which launches in November  comes to us via Twitter.

Elle France tweeted the shot, which, true to Rousteing's style, appears to involve heavy embroidery, a strong shoulder, and a thigh-scraping hem. A Twitter drop does seem oddly appropriate for a collection that was itself announced via selfie.

Follow us here for more details.

BARNEYS: Made In New York!

The hook for this story is a new Barneys New York capsule collection titled Made in New York for which the retailer asked 7 of its top designers to produce items completely in NYC to support the beleaguered local manufacturing community.

The collection goes in stores next week:

All 9 flagships and 5 of the smaller stores  with the full flex of Barneys display muscle behind it.

Made In New York. It will get all of the Madison Avenue windows during NYFW.

To illustrate the concept, each window will house a sculptural dis- play of 200 two-foot needles made
by the Barneys creative team.

The project is the result of a partnership between Daniella Vitale, Barneys chief operating officer, and Steven Kolb, the CFDA’s ceo, who struck a partnership.

We look forward to seeing more on Madison Avenue windows.

LOUIS VUITTON! The Bag

There is no monogram easier to recognize than Louis Vuitton. The brand signature LV has been on bags carried by everyone from socialites to Angelina Jolie. But there is so much more to LV than being on the arms of Hollywoods A-listers. The fashion powerhouse has had a long and fascinating history that has managed to make it a phenomenon time and time again. We look forward to seeing more innovation from the brand in 2016.

Jeremy Scott and Moschino continues to expand!

MOSCHINO TO OPEN SOON
A couple of weeks ago, we learned that Italian designer brand Moschino was planning on returning to the New York retail scene sometime this summer with a boutique in SoHo designed to reflect creative director Jeremy Scott's updated image for the label.
But where?
A few weeks ago, WWD has announced that Moschino has signed a lease at 73 Wooster Street between Spring and Broome Streets for a 3,700 square foot store still. We look forward to hearing more from Moschino.
